A Welcome Sight

East Bay Hills, California

Out of winter comes spring. This beautifully shaped valley oak, from its station just a few steps off the ridgetop, can be seen from many vantage points in the East Bay Hills - though I wonder if other hikers notice it the way I do. Seeing it leafing out amid a swirl of fog and sun on an early spring day, I feel refreshed and renewed. © Rain Hayes
