Glassy Magnolias

These cup-and-saucer magnolias were some of the earliest to bloom this year, and I spent many hours in the botanical gardens photographing them. Backlit by morning light, the pink blooms appear translucent, as if made of blown glass. I appreciate the magnolia’s symbolism of nobility, perseverance and dignity - fine qualities for any flower or person, in my opinion.
