Dragon Eggs
California Coast
Preserved by cold salt water for millennia, these normally submerged specimens do make an occasional appearance at low tide. One of the most captivating aspects of infrared photography is the way it makes chlorophyll-containing plants glow with blue-white light. In person, the seaweed clinging to the rocks is deep green, almost black. Through the infrared camera, it looks like something else entirely. © Rain Hayes
